Yvonne & Ross' E-Session at Yellowcraigs & North Berwick

East Lothian is full of beautiful spots to take photographs and none more so than Yellowcraigs. This beautiful stretch of beach is a favourite with locals with their picnic baskets as well as dog owner giving Fido a swim in the water. I met up with Yvonne & Ross at the car park before heading down to the beach with the Fidra Lighthouse as the backdrop. The Bass Rock is also visible from the beach. We had a great laugh getting some shots as the wind blew Yvonne's hair everywhere so we decided to head into the relative calm of North Berwick for the remaining shots.

Rosemary & Phil's E-Session at Newbattle Abbey, Dalkeith

It was a beautiful May evening at Newbattle Abbey College for Rosemary & Phil's E-Session. Newbattle has amazing grounds including a stunning decorative garden at the rear of the buliding. Rosemary & Phil were a joy to photogrpah. So natural and relaxed. Roll on August for the big day!

Prestonfield House Wedding Photography - The Merchant Hall Reception - Kristen & Duncan

Kristen and Duncan's wedding at Prestonfield House was really special. Kristen's family had flown in from the states to be with them and other guests came from far and wide. Kristen got ready at The Marriott before heading to Prestonfield to slip into her stunning dress and say "I do" to Duncan. The peacocks were wandering  the grounds and on a few occasions, looked like they wanted to get in on the action. After the group shots we took some photographs of the boys throwing their Top Hats up in the air.......and landing not once, but twice on poor Kristen and Duncan's heads. It was hilarious! Thankfully no harm done.

Then it was time to be whisked off in the vintage Jaguar to The Merchant Hall in Edinburgh's New Town. A sumptuous reception hall with a spectacular domed ceiling. After the first dances, the guests were on the dance floor like a shot to kick off the Ceilidh. Brilliant night...brilliant day!

Lennoxlove House Wedding Photography - Mhairi & John

I had never shot a wedding at Lennoxlove before Mhairi and John kindly asked me to photograph their big day. As usual for me, when I have never shot a wedding at a venue, I like to go beforehand and take a look around. Lennoxlove is just a beautiful location for a wedding. Gorgeous house, beautiful interior and the grounds, even on a late March day were breathtaking. Beautiful views from the main door looking past the two cannons into the hills in the distance. A beautiful lawn at the rear of the building and a long driveway ensuring the perfect private getaway to celebrate a wedding. Mhairi and John are a great couple, always up for fun and a good laugh. Nothing was too much trouble and with the stunning Lennoxlove as a venue and the even more stunning Mhairi as the beautiful bride, I really couldn't go wrong. John looked very handsome in his kilt too. In fact I don't think I've seen an Englishman pull it off so well. John and the boys, ensured I spent most of the day laughing along with their antics. Put it this way, there are a few shots that I just couldn't post online. Brilliant bunch of guys.

Definitely one of my fav weddings ever! Huge thank you to Mhairi, John and their guests. Also Lennoxlove were fanatic too. The perfect day.

Jennifer & Gregor's E-Session at Gullane and Yellowcraigs.

Another blowy night in East Lothian but the light was beautiful. Jennifer and Gregor were brilliant fun throughout the shoot. Here are a few of the shots from the shoot.

Claire & Ross' E-Session

On a very windy April evening in Edinburgh's old town I met Claire and Ross for their e-session. The plan was to go to Arthurs Seat but fear of blowing away soon put that idea to the back burner and we decided to head up the High Street instead. Edinburgh's tourist season looks to have started as the ghost tours were in full swing. Lot's of bemused visitors wondering who this couple was and why they had a guy with a big camera taking photos. This is the beauty of the E-session. It's all about the happy couple. No one else is there and the first few minutes can be a little embarrasing. After a while though most couples relax a bit more and have a little fun, so come the wedding day, it's all a piece of cake. Below are a few shots from the session.

Glenbervie House Wedding - Leanne & Barry

Glenbervie House is such a stunning venue for a wedding reception, even a whole day including ceremony but Leanne and Barry chose to take their vows in Dunfermline Abbey. Wow! It's huge! Barry and arranged a lamborghini as the wedding car to take him to the Abbey and then leanne and Barry to Glenbervie in the afternoon. You heard that thing before you saw it.

Kyla & Rob's Pre Wedding Shoot in Edinburgh

Does it look cold in these photos? If the answer is yes, then let me tell you it was absolutely freezing! Not what you would expect from an early April morning in Edinburgh. Ok, so it's never going to be Dubai weather at this time of year but it was 2 below zero! Kyla & Rob didn't let the frostbitten fingers bother them at all as we had a great time on the pre-wedding shoot. We headed down towards George Square in Edinburgh so we could get some shots in front of the graffiti covered lock-ups down that way. Then it was back up to the old town for a few more shots before we called it a day. Here's a selection of the shots from the day.

Susan & Dan's E-Session on Calton Hill in Edinburgh.

We really are very lucky in Edinburgh. You can be in the middle of the city centre yet look like you are in the middle of nowhere. Calton Hill has unparalleled views over Edinburgh and Arthurs Seat, it's just spectacular up there. If you haven't been up there yet, you just have to go. I met Susan and Dan for there pre-wedding shoot late in the afternoon with the sun was shining a little, just enough for great light. Both Susan and Dan were great fun and very natural in front of the camera. For the wedding day we are hoping to head over to Arthurs Seat for spectacular bride and Groom photographs. I'll definitely be doing my, Please Don't Rain dance!

Kirsty & Rob's Wedding at Roman Camp, Callander

Roman Camp in Callander is a beautifiul location for a wedding. Situated not far from Stirling, Callander is the gateway to the Trossochsand the highlands beyond. Kirsty and Rob's wedding was full of laughter from beginning of the getting ready shots, right through to the party in the evening.

Kirsty & Rob's Pre-Wedding Shoot at Roman Camp

Kirsty and Rob are getting married at Roman Camp in Callander next month. I've never been out to Roman Camp before, in fact it's been a very long time since I'd been up to Callander. It's a beautiful little town, very popular with the Tourists. It was a beautiful but chilly late Friday afternoon in Callander when I arrived at the venue. I actually drove past the entrance. It looks like a little lane between two of the building on the Main Street but it hides a gorgeous venue on the riverbank with perfect grounds to host a wedding. A hidden gem!

Joe & Louise's E-Session

All my clients who book a package with me receive a free e-session or pre-wedding shoot (different names, same thing). Some of my clients already may have children and even though I promote the e-session, it doesn't have to exclude the kids. I encourage my clients to bring the wee ones along. After all, it's their big day too. I get a chance to meet the little ones, we get some great photos and it means on the Big Day, I'm not just some scary guy they've never met before. This really helps on the day. The kids relax and have fun and that means great photographs.

Lorne & Mark's E-Session at North Berwick

Lorne and Mark are getting married at the beautiful Macdonald Marine Hotel in North Berwick at the end of May this year. It's a perfect choice for a wedding venue as it has grounds at the back for group photos and for guests to mingle as well as being only 5 mins walk from the beach. On the right day, the photographs taken down on that beach can be breathtaking. I might even bring my putter along for a couple of shots on the golf course.

I had a great time with Lorne and Mark, who relaxed into the shoot very quickly and we got some great shots. Here are some highlights:

Carly & Mark's E-Session at Yellowcraigs

Yellowcraigs is one of my favourite places to take photographs. You just can't go wrong down there. Beautiful beach with the lighthouse acting as the backdrop. it's just perfect. I met Carly and mark down there for their Engagement Shoot last Sunday on what was a pleasant early Spring afternoon. Carly and Mark are a great couple and definitely up for more of a fun day for the wedding so it should be a cracker. Here are some of the shots from the shoot:

Toni & Martin's E-Session at Crichton Castle

When I want to get away from it all, I head to Crichton Castle with the dogs. It's such a peacefull location with a rugged beauty that few places nearby can match. Toni and Martin are getting married only a few miles from Crichton. Their venue is the stunning Dalhousie Castle. One of my very favourite venues as everywhere you go, whether inside or out, is simply beautiful. There are so many fantastic shots to be had at Dalhousie.

Angela & Jamie - Stair & Enterkine House Wedding

The perfect Autumn wedding! Picturesque church situated in the countryside of Ayrshire followed by a big reception bash on the lawns of Enterkine House a few miles away. I had such a brilliant time! The leaves were turning red and orange, the sun was shining and to top it all off, Lisa and Jamie were great. It was such a happy but funny, laid back occasion. To be honest, it couldn't have gone any better.

Enterkine House is an amazing location and definitely worth your attention if you are from that part of the world. Stunning place. Below are just a few highlights from the big day.

Stephanie, Adrian and Jamie - Family Shoot.

A cold, windy day in Linlithgow for a pre-wedding shoot with Stephanie, Adrian and Jamie. Linlithgow Palace is such a beautiful place with huge grounds and the lake right on it's doorstep. Poor Stephanie had recently twisted her knee and Adrian was suffering from a broken toe so we didn't want to wander too far but I'm delighted with the shots we got. That's one, very happy family!

Family Shoot - Leighanne, Erhan & Erin at East Calder.

Here are the shots from yesterday's family shoot. There was just a slither of snow left on the ground for Erin to get in some sledging. As part of the wedding packages, couples can have a free pre-wedding shoot but of course this could also be a family shoot too. Some couples have brought the dog along too to get in on the action. leighanne and Erhan get married in March and you never know....... We might get snow!

Katie & James' Wedding at Yester Parish Church, Gifford, East Lothian

What a great day, Katie and James' wedding was. I think they spent the whole day laughing and having a ball and I loved every minute of it! Superb. They were married at Yester Parish Church in the beautiful little village of Gifford in East Lothian. Quite a few of the guests arrived early on for a wee dram in the Goblin Ha' Pub to maybe settle the nerves. That's where I found James. We then headed to the Church for a few photographs of the guests arriving before everyone went inside to await Katie's arrival.

After the ceremony, the wedding party headed back to Katie's parents farm, just outside Tranent where a huge marquee had been erected to facilitate the evenings entertainment. With the speeches, the best band I've heard in a long time and everyone being brilliant on the day, it all amounted to the perfect wedding day.

Becky & Tom's Wedding At Solsgirth House

Solsgirth House is a hidden gem of a wedding venue just outside the picturesque village of Dollar in Clackmannanshire. It has every thing you could possibly want from a wedding venue with it's spacious grounds and elegant interior. Becky & Tom's wedding was a fun packed day to say the least. Tom is a farmer by trade and needles to say the boys were hilarious all through the day. Even the ceremony was fun as the celebrant had us all laughing along which was exactly how Becky & Tom wanted it. After the family photos on the unique stone staircase that leads up to the lawns, I managed to get some lovely portraits of Becky and Tom before the speeches began.

Afterwards, everyone danced the night away while I slipped away around 9pm. Believe me, I was so tempted to hang around at this one... It was brilliant!
